The bi-lingualism in Quebec as observed like a show in Aislin's Cartoon is as accurate as possible, no one actually speaks French in Quebec, not even the hardcore Péquiste!!

As they say in French: Tout-à-fait juste!!

In the meantime in Quebec more dollars were spent on language Gestapo than anything else....

The summit's first day will focus on four principal themes: quality of teaching and university governance, research and collaborations between institutions, evolution of university financing and finally, strategies to improve accessibility to universities and drop-out rates.

The summit is expected to end around 9 p.m. Monday and will resume tomorrow morning.

UPDATE:

Quebec to raise university tuition fees despite strong opposition.

The Quebec government will impose a form of indexation of university tuition fees despite strong opposition from student groups.

The indexation will take effect in September with the beginning of the fall session and will be adopted by government decree, according to government sources.

Details of the indexation will be released at the two-day summit on higher education being held in Montreal. It may involve an annual increase of about $40 to $80 a year depending on the formula to be adopted. The government will propose to soften the blow of the increase either by reducing extra fees charged by universities or improving the student loans and bursaries program.

This topic should never die indeed!!

Ignorant students in Quebec were dreaming the dream they couldn't get which the rest of Canada that is supposed to pay for everything cheap they want to grab, while they want to hate everything English, this feels like a total failure in the making from the get-go!

As always Quebec are a bunch of racist!

As previously said and not often enough, Quebec's PASTAGATE is hilarious, it's all over the media and not sole for National Canada, my aunt from Britain mentioned it in mail yesterday, she thinks Paulina Marois will be making Quebec a third world country, and by the might people realize it soon enough, it will be too late to fix it!!

Your concern looks serious, for the few here that aren't living there you must be luckily on the good track, north America could have done well without such an illusive issue for a language... Good luck!

Quebec became a real scary province to live in, too many have high-horse and royal attitude with no money or revenue to help anyone in need, let alone helping students to get an education with high-IQ or high standard! I'm so glad I moved out as soon as I graduated when it was still possible to get an education with quality teachers, but my parents till live there...

"I don't think the future of French will be determined by Italian menus, or Japanese sushi," Mario Dumont said, criticizing the OQLF for its mistake.

The pasta incident has even annoyed linguistic nationalists.

Staunch defenders of the French language regret that a bureaucratic brain-cramp could be used to discredit an agency that does important work — that of keeping a culture alive.

The common argument goes that if Montreal is allowed to slide into official bilingualism eventually people will, for the sake of convenience, simply stop using French altogether. They describe bilingualism as a "bridge" to the disappearance of French in North America.

Former politician Mario Dumont summed up much of the local chatter during his TV talk show Thursday.

That is a racist comment and a generalisation of a large group of people. If you're not aware of things just don't tell them. It's a bit pathetic actually. Not here to defend a cause or start a fight but I won't let anyone call me "racist" without even knowing me. As you all probably figured out I'm from quebec but I can tell there is something wrong with the government too. Just don't think we're all french and dumb please.

  I'm from Quebec as well... je parle trois langues, trilingues et ainsi de suite...
  
  I was once fired from a school because I blurred out by accident "Oh my GOD" instead of the regular "oh mon dieux" the funny part is that I'm not even religious, but a KID accused me of speaking in English in class, got me fired...

LES ETUDIANTS SONT PAS CONTENT PANTOUTE!

Les rues de Montréal ont eu des airs de printemps 2012, mardi soir. Plus de 2000 manifestants déterminés à faire connaître leur opposition à l'indexation des droits de scolarité ont marché dans les rues, dans une atmosphère tendue.

La marche s'est ébranlée au parc Émilie-Gamelin, point de départ d'une centaine de manifestations nocturnes l'an dernier. Elle a comme toujours été déclarée illégale dès son départ par la police de Montréal, car l'itinéraire ne lui a pas été fourni.

Au moment de mettre en ligne, quelques méfaits avaient été commis: les vitres d'une succursale de la Banque Scotia et d'un café Starbucks ont été fracassées, et des graffitis ont été faits à divers endroits. Les feux d'artifice ont été nombreux à éclater dans le ciel du centre-ville, quoique quelques-uns ont volé au ras de la tête de la foule.

  This is actually hilarious, to me this sounds like these students want to do their mark and get a degree while protesting, it might be called the "REBELLIOUS FAILED CERTIFICATE" now they should try to find a job with that...
